Thomas R. Dahringer 1949-2024

DELAWARE, Ohio — Thomas Raymond Dahringer, 75, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024 at the Inn at Olentangy Trail Assisted Living Facility, following a short illness.

He was born on April 16, 1949, in Warren, to parents Raymond Dahringer and Mary Bogan Dahringer.

On Jan. 19, 1974, he married Deborah Elaine Ware; together they shared 48 years of marriage.

Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife, Debbie Dahringer; and daughter, Kelly Dahringer.

He is survived by his daughter, Kim (Andrew) O’Neil; grandson, Beckett O’Neil; and granddaughter, Kinleigh O’Neil.

Tom worked at General Motors (which ended up being Delphi Packard Electric) in Warren. He retired in 2004, after 30 years of employment on the assembly line. He lived in Warren for most of his life. He spent winters for 15 years, with his wife, Debbie, in Okeechobee, Florida. He relocated to Delaware, Ohio, in August 2022 to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren.

Tom loved golfing, spending time at the beach, eating ice cream and watching The Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. He also loved dogs more than most humans. Throughout his adult life, one of Tom’s favorite places to spend his free time was the Warren YMCA. Tom graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1967. He served his country, from June 10, 1968 to Feb. 20, 1970, during the Vietnam war, with the United States Navy, as a fireman on the ship. He was a man with a gruff exterior who had a big heart. He battled with mental illness most of his life but he kept fighting no matter what, and many people admired him for that.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Inn at Olentangy Trail Assisted Living facility for taking such great care of Tom the past few years. They would also like to thank Capital City Hospice for everything that they did for him the last week of his life.

Tom will be buried, at a later date, in Howland Community Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange Drive, Suite 170, Columbus, OH 43231; or the Human Society of Delaware County, 4920 State Route 37, East Delaware, OH 43015.
