Richard P. Bedio Sr. 1942-2024

MINERAL RIDGE — Richard Paul “Dick” Bedio Sr., 82, passed away peacefully at 3:25 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Dick was born in Ambridge, Pa. on July 11, 1942, the son of George and Helen Knopick Bedio Sr.

He was a graduate of Geneva College and received his master’s degree in business from Youngstown State University. After 40 years of service, Dick retired as a supervisor for SOHIO / BP OIL Company. He was also an umpire for men’s fastpitch softball and girls fastpitch softball for high school, college, traveling and showcase teams throughout Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee. He was a Junior Achievement advisor, active in the Weathersfield Businessmen’s Association and a member of Saint Pope John XXIII Parish-Saint Stephen Church.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed playing golf.

Dick and his wife loved their travels to Italy, Florida, the Bahamas and Las Vegas, along with several cruises to Key West, Cozumel, Mexico and a special two-week cruise to Alaska for their 40th Wedding Anniversary. The family enjoyed their summer trips to Great Bear Lake in Bloomingdale, Michigan, where Dick golfed and the family had fun fishing, swimming, boating and taking their side trips to Notre Dame University, Sand Dunes and Lake Michigan. But mostly, they enjoyed a relaxing time together visiting Judy’s family. One special summer vacation was to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Dick, Judy and the girls visited their son and brother and got to experience seeing the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park. Other family trips Dick enjoyed were to Virginia where they visited Busch Gardens and Williamsburg, and the three of their kids living in Newport News.

Dick’s most important thing in life was his family. He loved and cherished spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He loved them and was proud of them all!

He is survived by his wife, Judy K. Mueller Bedio, whom he married Nov. 18, 1972; two sons and three daughters, Robert (Brenda) Bedio, Richard Jr. (Rebecca) Bedio, and Julie (Steve) Cretacci, all of Newport News, Virginia, Kristen Harrelson of Tipp City, Ohio, and Kerri (Eric) Bedio-Hartzell of Tiffin, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Kenneth (Mandy) Bedio, Becky (Jacob) Buck, Ronald (Jeanette) Foxx, Anthony and Nicolas Cretacci, and Logan and Lucas Harrelson; seven great-grandchildren, Dakota, Brandon, Adriane, Abigail, Andrew, Natalie and Julia; great-great-granddaughter, Everleigh Rossman; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
