June M. Lamer 1930-2024
WARREN — June Marie Vasbinder Lamer, 94, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, Sept. 29, 2024, at Gillette Nursing Home, Warren.
She was born in the family home, Sunday, June 15, 1930, in Diamondville, Pa., a daughter of Joseph B. and Mary Ellen Stiles Vasbinder.
June grew up in Indiana County and married Lloyd E. Lamer on June 6, 1950. Together they moved to Howland in 1950 and were lifelong area residents.
June dedicated her life to her family, proudly embracing her role as a homemaker and mother. Her commitment to her family was reflected in her status as a devoted mom, grandma and great-grandma.
Throughout her life, June enjoyed a variety of activities that brought her joy and happiness. She was a longtime member of McKinley Community Church. She was an avid reader, loved to walk and found pleasure in watching Western movies, playing bingo and singing.
She is survived by her loving children, Brenda L. (Ron) Cunningham of Howland and Barry G. (Amy) Lamer of Cortland; her five beloved grandsons, Matthew (Malizi-Ani) Lamer, Adam (Rachel) Lamer, Ryan (Amanda) Cunningham, Barry (Kaitlynn) Cunningham and Aaron (Hannah) Lamer; her great-granddaughters, Gloria, Juliana, Elizabeth and Edie; great-grandsons, Charlie, Finnick and Emmanuel; and by her sister, Jane (Mike) Chichy.
June was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lloyd; granddaughter, Cassandra June Cunningham; her siblings, Luella Vasbinder, Kathryn Nooney, Betty Nicewonger, Joseph Eugene Vasbinder, Ed Vasbinder, John Vasbinder and infants, Margaret and Barbara Vasbinder.
Friends and family may visit 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at Sample-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 555 E. State St., Sharon, Pa.
Burial will take place privately in Crown Hill Burial Park.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and nurse aides at Gillette Nursing Home who cared for her during her time with them.
