John Katchmer 1927-2024

John was born July 10, 1927, in Niles, a son of the late Peter and Katie Sencisak Katchmer, and was a lifelong area resident.

John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany during World War II.

He was a self-employed master carpenter, working in both residential and commercial areas. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 171. John enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and cheering for the Cleveland Guardians.

He leaves his wife of over 69 years, the former Grace Gelston, whom he married June 18, 1955; two daughters, Debbie (Bryon) Frederick of Vienna and Diane (John Gantz) DeJacimo of Girard; two grandsons, Anthony (Kayla Damelio) DeJacimo and Andrew (Audrey Shemunovich) DeJacimo; and one great-granddaughter, Giavonna DeJacimo.

Private family services have taken place.

Arrangements were by the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield.
