Georgia K. Luoma 1938-2024
CORTLAND — Georgia Kay Luoma, 86, passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024 at Lake Vista of Cortland, where she and her husband have resided for the past three years.
Georgia was born on Jan. 8, 1938 in Mechanicsburg, Pa., the daughter of the late James N. Taylor and Gail A. Albright Taylor.
Georgia met her high school sweetheart, Donald Edward Luoma, at Warren G. Harding High School. They were wed on July 12, 1957 and enjoyed 67 wonderful years of marriage.
They moved from Warren to Howland in 1966 and remained there until Don retired in 1998. They relocated to Florida and enjoyed a wonderful time in retirement first at Zellwood Station and then at Scottish Highlands in Leesburg, Florida. They made many friends and were very active during their time in Florida and enjoyed travels and cruises around the world. They moved back to the Warren area in 2021 to be closer to family in their golden years.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Donald Edward Luoma of Cortland; children, William M. (Kate Desch) Luoma of Dayton, Linda L. Girondo of Warren and David Edward Luoma of Warren; granddaughters, Jessica (Pablo) Carmona of Mentor, Brandy (Zack Drnek) of Warren and Kelly (Christopher) Sands of Marysville; as well as her great-grandchildren, Zackery Drnek of Warren and Laura Carmona of Mentor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harry N. Taylor; and daughter-in-law, Karen Sue Luoma.
Georgia was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always thought of others first and put herself second. She had a deep faith and was a charter member of the Living Lord Lutheran Church in Howland.
Services will be at noon Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where Pastor Gerald Gammon will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
