Doris J. Trua 1933-2024

WARREN — Doris “Dorie” J. Trua, 90, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024.

She was born Dec. 16, 1933, in East Liverpool, a daughter of the late Donald and Ruth Twyford Kennedy.

Dorie was a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her home and family. Dorie loved the Lord, and her easy-spirited and loving personality touched everyone she met. She was a member of Champion Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, serving both as a trustee and deaconess. She also sang in the chancel choir for over 50 years. A graduate of East Liverpool High School, Dorie was a part of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association. She cherished her memories of spending the winter months in Cape San Blas, Florida, with her late husband. Dorie enjoyed music, sunflowers, doing crossword puzzles and most of all, loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Nicki Landfried; son, Scott (Lorri) Trua; daughters, Julie Futey-Peterson and Marti (Rich) Dudones; sister, Helen Sell; grandchildren, Daniel, Brett, Marcy, Erika, Adam and Christopher; along with six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Nick S. Trua; son-in-law, Steve Landfried; and grandsons, Stephen Futey IV and Andrew Atkinson.

Services will be held at noon, with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, at Champion Presbyterian Church, where Pastor Gary Bryan will officiate.

Interment will be in Champion Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to Champion Presbyterian Church Choir Fund; or Crossroads Hospice of the Akron, Ohio area, in her memory.
