Daniel Kent Henderson 1950-2024

WARREN — Daniel Kent Henderson, 73, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024.

Born Nov. 28, 1950, in Sharon, Pa., Dan was the son of Archibald and Mildred Williams Henderson. He grew up as one of six siblings and graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1968.

In 1971, Dan married his high school sweetheart, Wendy Toth. Together, they raised three daughters in Warren. Dan dedicated many years to serving the community through his work with the City of Warren, retiring in 2011.

A passionate outdoorsman, Dan found joy in hunting, eagerly anticipating his annual two-week trip to Marienville, Pa. Family vacations to Cook Forest State Park were cherished traditions, where he enjoyed creating lasting memories surrounded by nature. Gardening and yard work were not just tasks for Dan; they were pleasures he embraced wholeheartedly.

An avid sports fan, Dan faithfully supported the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Guardians, watching games through both triumphs and trials.

As a devoted family man, Dan epitomized the term “Girl Dad.” In 1980, he founded the Eastside Girls Softball League, where he coached and mentored countless young women, earning the affectionate title of “Coach Dan.” His influence extended far beyond the field, and many of his former players continued to cherish his guidance long after their league days.

Affectionately known as Papa, Dan loved spending time with his grandchildren, Collin King and Caden Crean. He and Wendy were regular attendees at their sporting events and school activities, showing unwavering support.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his older sisters, Rachel Henderson and Suzanne Ensign; and his younger sister, Mary Henderson.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Wendy; three daughters, Amy (Michael) King, Danyiel Jaskiewicz (Michael Stabile) and Natalie (Chris) Crean; his sister, Melanie (Jim) Howsare; his brother, Gary (Brenda) Henderson; and his two cherished grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road NE, Warren, OH 44483. No calling hours are planned, and a private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memory of Dan, to the Healthy Hearts and Paws Project, https://healthyheartsproject.org/.
