Charles C. Collier 1941-2024
ROCKLEDGE, Fla. — Charles Clyde “Chuck” Collier, 83, was called to his eternal rest, Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024.
He was born June 14, 1941, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital in Warren, the eldest son of Melvin and Lois Collier. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and cherished friend to many.
A graduate of Braceville High School, Charles, affectionately referred to as “Chuck,” was a man of principle and vigor. He served his country with distinction in the U.S. Army from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1962. His military service included his initial training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and subsequent advanced training at Fort Lee, Virginia, before his final posting at Fort Hood, Texas.
Upon returning to his community, Charles’ love of sport and fellowship led him to co-found the Hot Stove League, ensuring the children of Braceville could learn about and enjoy the great American pastimes, baseball and softball.
His professional life in sales was complemented by his selfless dedication as a volunteer paramedic, through which he rendered aid and comfort to those in need.
Chuck found joy in life’s simple pleasures, tending flower beds with his beloved wife, Winsome Arlene Collier, and playing pool with comrades at the local VFW and American Legion. His vibrant spirit extended to energetically coaching televised sports and games from his living room chair.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family, including his children, Kimberly S. Stewart and John A. Collier Sr.; his daughter-in-law, Diana L. Collier; his sister, Carol Lutz; and his treasured grandchildren, Kolina Hansen, Sven Collier and John Collier Jr.
Charles is now reunited in the hereafter with his late wife, Winsome A. Collier; his parents, Melvin and Lois Collier; and his siblings, Kenneth, Kathleen, Jane, David and Jim.
The absence of Chuck will be deeply felt, but his memory shall endure in the hearts of those who knew him. We commend him to the Almighty with the comfort that he is at peace.
Arrangements for his memorial service will be announced in due course, where friends and family may pay their respects and celebrate his life.
