Anna R. Petrilla 1937-2024

Anna was born on Sept. 9, 1937, in Warren, where she was raised by her mother and father, Mary and John Karafa. Her mother worked for a local bank and her father was a crane operator at a local steel mill.

After graduating from Warren G. Harding High School in 1955, Anna took several secretarial courses which eventually led her to her 27-year career as an executive secretary at Glenn View Manor Nursing Home in Niles. On June 14, 1958, she married Paul Petrilla after meeting him at their local church and together for the next 63 years, they lovingly raised four children.

Anna was a woman of deep faith, an avid reader and was a lecturer for her local church. She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, watching movies, taking walks and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her four children, Theresa Petrilla Anthony, Dennis Petrilla, Susan Petrilla Holcomb and her husband, Rich Holcomb, and Charles Petrilla and his wife, Greta; her identical twin sister, Marie Tedeschi; her five grandchildren, Mark Anthony, Maddie Holcomb, Roy Holcomb, Drew Petrilla and Daniel Petrilla; and two great-grandchildren, Adelaide Anthony and Henley Anthony.

Per Anna’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

She was cremated in Leesburg, Virginia, and her remains will be interred and laid to rest next to her husband, Paul Petrilla; her deceased parents; and her brother, John Karafa, in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.

Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Remembrance at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, at St.Teresa of Calcutta Parish-Blessed Sacrament Church, located at 3020 Reeves Road, Warren, OH 44483.
