Andrew F. Mihalic 1949-2024
LIBERTY — Andrew F. Mihalic, 75, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, at Licking Memorial Hospital, after a long-term illness.
Andy was born in Youngstown, July 10, 1949, to Andrew and Barbara Stefanec Mihalic. He was a 1967 graduate of Ursuline High School and a 1971 graduate of Youngstown State University. While working as an engineer for US Manufacturing in Michigan, he designed car parts for the automotive industry. Andrew was a Notre Dame and Yankees fan, always studious and clean-cut, even when he was working on the car. He was a true gentleman and a great provider for his wife and children. He was dedicated to their happiness and well-being.
He enjoyed Corvettes and even owned a few. In addition, he was avid dog lover and he will be forever missed.
Andrew leaves his wife, Kimberly Jo Brass of 35 years; children, Matthew of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Julie of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Timothy of Alameda, California; grandchildren, Luca, Nico, Dominic, Alec, Calina and Conner; sister, Geraldine L. Mansour; and his Great Danes, Granite, Kiera and Andie, who were certified service trained just for Andrew and his needs as his illness progressed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers-in-law, Alan W. Brass and Eugene Joseph Mansour.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the wonderful caregivers that Andrew has had over the years at both The Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic, and also a very special thank you to the private duty nursing staff and the Liberty Township Fire Department for transporting Andrew numerous times to the hospital for his emergency visits. Your prompt response, constant care, kindness and respect are appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mayo Clinic Department of Development, Neurology Research, 200 First St. SW, Floor 8, Rochester, MN 55905, in Andrew’s memory.
Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at Schiavone Funeral Home, and noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, followed by a prayer service at 1 p.m. officiated by Pastor Kari Lankford. Please visit www.schiavonefh.com to share condolences.
