Mildred Boyer 1932-2024
NILES — Mildred “Millie” Boyer, 91, passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024.
Millie was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Niles, to the late Antonia Slanina and Peter Loncarevich.
Millie graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1951, during which time she played on the basketball team.
She married Charles Robert Boyer on Oct. 8, 1955. They were married for 53 years.
Millie was a loving mother to her son, Steve, as well as a beloved aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Millie was an avid bowler for many years. She enjoyed making crafts, often gifting handmade decorations to loved ones.
Millie was a dedicated member of the Croatian Fraternal Union. She enjoyed being a member of her local lodge and its Veseljaci Taburitiza band for many years, during which she played the brac and sang. She cherished times spent at Strossmayer Croatian picnic grounds, a place she frequented each summer.
Her favorite memories were those made with friends and family. Millie will be remembered fondly for her social and generous spirit, always offering a plate of cookies to visitors. If you knew Millie, you know she never met a stranger.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Boyer, who passed away Jan. 20, 2008; son, Stephen Boyer; sister, Matilda (Joseph) Kijowski; and brother, Peter Loncarevich.
She is survived by her sister, Helen (Tino) Natoli; granddaughter, Stephanie (Ryan) Williams; and great-granddaughter, Liza. She also leaves nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and also her niece, Patti (David) Bush, and grandnephew, Joshua Kijowski, who were dear to her and provided much care.
Millie’s family would like to recognize Paula and Lisa, who were Millie’s friends and caregivers; her hospice nurses; and her neighbors, Steve and Jessie Brantly Bacha, and Kenny Hecker.
Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home, Niles.
Burial will be in Girard City Cemetery.
