Karlyn M. Stein 1947-2024

She was born Dec. 15, 1947, in Vernon Township, a daughter of the late Tony and Irene Gran Smith.

Karlyn graduated Vernon High School and went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.

On Jan. 25, 1966, she married her husband, Elmer James Stein, who preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 2018.

Karlyn enjoyed gardening and watching her birds. She helped with the family business, was a homemaker and caregiver who loved taking care of others and who never worried about taking care of her own needs. Her biggest joy came from spending time with her kids and grandkids.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

Karlyn is survived by her loving sons, Eric (Susan) Stein of North Carolina and Matthew Stein of Cortland; three grandchildren, Victoria Wolverton, Erikson Stein and Angelina Stein.

As per the family’s request, funeral arrangements are private.
