Guido R. Sanders 1954-2024

WARREN — It is with great, heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Guido Robert Sanders, 70, who peacefully left us Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was a father, a brother, a papa and a friend to many.

He was born July 5, 1954, in Warren, to the late Elmer E. and Theresa C. Trasatti Sanders.

Guido worked for the City of Warren for 34 years. He began his career in the parks department, and when he retired, held the position of foreman of vehicles and maintenance. In retirement, he took over and became owner of the family business, the Wonder Bar in Warren.

Guido’s generosity knew no bounds; he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His passions included the Cleveland Browns Backer Club; being past president of The Tavern Association; and supporting Big Brothers and Big Sisters Association. Guido was also the past president of AFSCME Local 74. He was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 44.

Guido enjoyed gardening and cooking, but none of these matched his passion for riding his Harley-Davidson. If you ever rolled a bocce ball, threw a dart or shot pool while enjoying a cold beer, you knew Guido.

Guido is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Sally J. Miller of Cortland; his children, Jodi Dawn Sanders and Vincent J. Sanders, both of Champion, and Anthony G. Sanders of Niles.

He leaves behind his siblings, James (Lori) Sanders of Warren, Michael (Dianna) Sanders of Cortland, Nancy (Jim Ritz) Sanders of Braceville, Theresa (John) Scirocco of Niles and Christopher (Jeannette) Sanders of Warren; as well as five grandchildren, Madison Johnman-Sanders, Marina Sanders, Bliss Sanders-Repko, Michael and Evan Sanders; and several nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him and will miss him very much.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia F. Sanders.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for the wonderful care and support given to Guido and his family at Hospice House.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.

A private memorial service will take place in All Souls Cemetery.
