WARREN — Donnie Lorenzo Allen, 39, of Hazelwood Avenue SE, had his earthly chapter come to a peaceful close at 10:53 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, at The Cleveland Clinic Main Campus.
He was born Feb. 22, 1985, in Warren, the son of Donald Lorenzo Allen and Khristy Watson.
Donnie was employed with the Warren Trumbull Urban League for seven years as a program monitor. He also worked for George Junior Republic as a counselor and for the United Methodist Community Center North Park as a social worker.
He graduated in 2003 from Warren G. Harding High School, and in 2012, from HBCU Central State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in social work. He was a member of Restoration Christian Fellowship Church and a former member of New Jerusalem Fellowship Church.
Donnie served as a board member and coach for the Warren Little Raiders football team and also coached for the AAU Running Rebels basketball team.
He enjoyed music, sports, fishing and quoting various movie lines to see if you could finish them. He was an avid Jacksonville Jaguars fan.
He will be forever remembered by his mother, Khristy Watson-Mitchell; stepfather, James Mitchell Sr. of Warren; three blood brothers, Shaquille Williams of Texas, Davont’a Allen of Columbus and Marcus Wilkins of Pennsylvania; seven sisters, Ms. Keiona Nuckles of Chesterfield, Virginia, Ms. T’Shara Allen of Lawrenceville,Georgia, Ms. Kayla Allen and Ms. Kayli Watson of Warren, Ms. Shaqukeyla Allen of Texas, Ms. Dynesha Allen and Ms. Dezier Allen, both of Columbus; a grandmother, Ms. Alberta Black of Warren; a nephew, Cortney Nuckles of Chesterfield, Virginia; four nieces, Miss Coriana Nuckles of Chesterfield, Virginia, Miss A’Riya and A’Raya Allen, both of Warren, and Symphoni Wilkins of Pennsylvania; 11 ubiquitous brothers, Derrick Eggleston, Jonathon Watson, Glenn (Nikita) Owens, Nathaniel (Jasmine) Adams, Rashawn Shannon, Keion Stella, Tony Elzy, Alan Eggleston and Patrick Blutcher, all of Warren, Ryan Drayton of Atlanta, Georgia, and Sean Brown of California; four godchildren, Aaron Richardson, Jason Adams, Loyal Owens and Niko Eggleston; and two special moms, Theresa Owens Scott and Teresa Hosey Streeter, both of Warren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Allen; grandmother, Ms. Martha Ann Allen; grandfathers, Donald Dawkins Sr. and Sam Watson; and a niece, Miss Alaya Allen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at New Jerusalem Fellowship Church, with calling hours from 10 to 11 a.m.
Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
