Dayne L. Mullett 1935-2024
HOWLAND — Dayne Lee Mullett, 89, passed away at 11:19 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, at the Washington Square nursing home.
He was born Jan. 24, 1935, in Parker Township, Pa., the son of Elton and Leda Bowser Mullett.
Early in his life, his family moved to a farm in Williamsfield, Ohio, where his parents fostered many children. He went on to graduate from high school and joined the United States Marine Corps, where he earned the rank of sergeant. He honorably served during the Korean War. He retired, after almost 50 years, as a millwright at Packard Electric General Motors. He and his wife, Dorothy, loved to travel and spent the winter months in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and their home in Holiday, Florida. He was a handyman and worked on all the projects around his home. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he loved.
Dayne is survived by a son, Jeffery D. (Helena) Mullett of Howland; three grandchildren, Justin Ryan (Heather) Mullett, Edward James Mullett and Sean Anthony Mullett; four great-grandchildren, Jaden, Jenny, Mason and Jasmine; brother, David Mullett of Mount Gilead, Ohio; several foster siblings; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy J. Shaffer Mullett, whom he married on May 28, 1958, and who died on Jan. 13, 2022; and a brother, Tim Mullett.
A celebration of life for Dayne and Dorothy will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at Buena Vista Cafe, 1305 Buena Vista Ave. NE, Warren, OH 44483, where, at 3 p.m., the Trumbull County Honor Guard will pay a military tribute to Dayne.
