Arden Clifford Baillie 1933-2024

family, was a beacon of strength, love and unwavering dedication. Arden’s earthly chapter came to a peaceful close Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, in Champion, where he passed away due to natural causes.

Born Sept. 5, 1933, in Newton Falls, he embarked on a life journey that would touch the hearts of many. His legacy is a testament to the impact one individual can have on the world around them.

Arden’s life was characterized by service and commitment, both to his country and his community. A proud Korean War veteran, he served from 1954 to 1956, honing his skills at the Armored School at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and as an immediate speed radio operator. After his military service, Arden joined the ranks of Operating Engineers Local 66 where he dedicated 50 years of hard work and expertise.

Beyond his professional life, Arden was deeply involved in the Newton Falls Post 236 American Legion. He held several positions including past post commander, and was instrumental in providing scholarships and assisting with bingo. His contribution to the Warren Bowling Association was equally significant, where his passion for the sport earned him a place in the association’s Hall of Fame.

Arden’s love for sports was not just about personal accolades – it was about community and youth development. He coached baseball, umpired games and led both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Braceville. His commitment to coaching and mentoring young bowlers created a legacy that will undoubtedly continue for generations.

Notably, Arden achieved the remarkable feat of bowling back-to-back 300 games, a testament to his skill and dedication. Striking out the last 30 frames in a row on lanes 1 and 2 at the old Newton Falls Lanes, his series was a 792. He also bowled 300 games both right and left-handed. His highest series ever bowled was 842.

Family was the cornerstone of Arden’s life. He married his loving wife, Arvada M. Thompson, on May 1, 1954. Together, they raised a family that would be defined by love, resilience and shared passions.

Arden is survived by his sons, Daniel and wife Marie, John and wife Kym, Robert and wife Dee, and Kenneth and wife Lori. His eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren will carry forward the flame of his spirit, embodying the lessons and memories he imparted.

Preceding his death were his parents, Clifford and Theda Baillie; son, Ronald Baillie; daughter, Genine Baillie; and two sisters, Clarice Marhefky and Beverly Scarazzo.

Arden was a selfless, loving and wise man who approached life with a vigor that inspired all who knew him. His influence extended far beyond the fields and lanes where he coached and played; it was in the everyday moments, the quiet acts of kindness and the steadfast presence he provided to those around him.

As we celebrate Arden’s life, we remember not just the titles he held or the records he set, but the immeasurable warmth and guidance he provided. He was a man who understood the value of a moment, the importance of a kind word and the enduring power of a life well-lived. Arden Clifford Baillie’s journey was one of purpose and passion and his story will continue to motivate and uplift us all.

His beloved dog, Howie the II, will miss his gentle touch and the silent conversations they shared. Although Arden has left us in body his spirit remains a guiding light, a reminder that life’s truest success is found in the love we share and the difference we make. Arden Clifford Baillie, a true champion in life, leaves behind a legacy of love, service and unwavering positivity.

Visitation will take place 3 to 5 p.m., with a service at 5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at the Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls.

A military service will be held to honor Arden for his service by the United States Army and the Newton Falls Veterans Honor Guard.
