Anastasia D. Ontko 1925-2024
VIENNA — Anastasia “Ann” D. Ontko, 98, entered into eternal rest Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at Shepherd of the Valley Liberty nursing facility.
She was born Oct. 9, 1925, in Adrian, Pa., the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Wojtowicz Drobik.
Ann moved to Warren with her family as a child. She began working at Ohio Edison as a meter clerk and in 1952 was promoted to sales and service, where she was employed for 20 years.
In 1946, she married her husband, Andy Ontko, who preceded her in death in 1994.
Ann and Andy loved to travel and would visit family members in California. After her husband passed, Ann spent time shopping with her friend, Denise Lodwick, with whom she shared a special bond. She enjoyed her neighbors and they looked after her as she grew older.
Ann was a member of St. Joseph Church, Warren, until it closed. Her hobby was needlepoint and she made many beautiful pictures. She also enjoyed quilting.
Her niece, Joanne Stassin of Vienna, looked after Ann and saw that she received good care.
Ann will be missed by Joanne’s good friend, Carl Walheim, whose company she enjoyed; as well as by two nephews, Steve (Carol) Drobik of Gahanna and Michael (Pat) Drobik of Hudson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Joe and Frank Drobik; two sisters, Mary and Sophie Drobik; and a niece, Marie.
There will be no calling hours. Family and friends will honor Ann at a luncheon at a later date.
