Lorraine Freeman 1953-2024
WARREN — Lorraine Freeman, 70, departed this life Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, at home.
Born Oct. 6, 1953, in Warren, the daughter of the late John Lewis and the late Mary Lee Core Freeman, she was the second eldest of five siblings.
A 1972 graduate of LaBrae High School and 1986 graduate of Kent State University, Lorraine was employed at Trumbull County Job and Family Services before retiring in 2016 after 28 years.
Lorraine was a voracious reader with a well-known passion for black history and art. She enjoyed taking care of her home and had a keen eye for interior design. She loved old-school R&B music and watching scary movies, home improvement shows and “Judge Judy.” In her spare time, her compassionate spirit led her to create unique sympathy baskets for those experiencing the loss of their loved ones.
Lorraine had a huge heart, a warm smile and an infectious laugh. She was a funny, caring, kind and deeply intelligent woman. She loved her family dearly and was a cherished friend to many.
She is survived by her daughters, Airis (Dawn) Freeman of Bowie, Maryland, and Macy Freeman of Warren; son, Ryan (Valerie) Freeman of Warren; grandchildren, Jonryan, Jada and Jersee; and sisters, Wanda Nelson and Mary Lynn Folmar of Warren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Freeman Jr.; and sister, Flora Reynolds.
A private memorial service was held for her family and close friends.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
