Joyce Postlethwait 1943-2024

She was a mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She was loved for her candor, humor, kindness and laughter and was always devoted and loyal to those she loved.

Joyce was born in 1943 in Proctor Creek, Wetzel County, W.Va., to John and Doretta Cecil.

She was one of six children and attended Magnolia High School in New Martinsville, W.Va.

After marriage and two children, Joyce moved with her family to Northeast Ohio in 1966 ,and she remained in Trumbull County, where she lived and worked, until her life’s end.

She retired from AVI Foods and worked at Custom Packing, both in Lordstown. She also was employed in the dietary department at Hillside Hospital in Howland.

Joyce would always return to Wetzel County, where she helped build and renovate a camp / retreat near Wileyville. Known to everyone there as Joycey, she was the camp cook and house designer.

Joyce enjoyed travel, gardening and was a self-educated birder.

Joyce spent her retirement years living with her daughter, Gloria Dodson in Cortland, where she grew flowers and plants in a backyard garden. She enjoyed a happy and quiet life.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria; son, Bryan Postlethwait; her granddaughter, Kate Dodson; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a private remembrance and celebration of her life for her closest family.

Her light will forever shine in our hearts. She is now at peace among the stars.
